And the (stentor) band played on…

Entire worlds live in a drop of aquarium water. I was lucky enough to see this stentor colony attached to some mulm I vacuumed up from my fish tank. I captured these images by sticking my phone camera against the eyepiece of one of those inexpensive kids’ microscopes. Those cheap scopes are the gateway drug to a microscope addiction (ask me how I know).

It really is amazing what you can see with a basic scope. Check out the beaded macronucei of this stentor, and the bonus non-sessile stentor photobomber (wait for it)…
